My name is Ben Amatruda and I have trained to teach secondary Religious Education (RE) at UCL Institute of Education (IOE). Before coming to the IOE, I studied Philosophy, and I was extremely passionate about philosophy of religion.
As part of the PGCE Course, I have had the opportunity of teaching in two different schools and going to many different places of worship. I am passionate about RE because it encourages students to be critical and explore their beliefs. Also R.E creates a safe space where students can go on their own personal journey.
Being involved with the READY Project has helped me to reflect upon diversity in religious education, and how teachers must work together in trying to ensure that diversity in religious education is taught sufficiently.
