The Comenius-Institute, founded in 1954, is a Protestant Centre for Research and Development in Education based in Münster (Germany). The main task of the institute is to promote and develop education from a Protestant perspective and with a Protestant commitment. For that, about 30 researchers and supporting staff work indifferent areas such as education in church, society and school, (inclusive) Religious Education, adult learning, and digitalisation of education. Projects and activities are based on ecumenical and interreligious cooperation and are internationally oriented.

Besides bringing together stakeholders from different areas of education for various projects and thus promoting dialogue between them, the Comenius-Institute has a scientific in-house library and offers support for research as well as with inquiries of libraries all over Germany. Furthermore, scientific books for enriching educational discourse are frequently published and practical handbooks, that help practitioners in the field of RE with their work.
