Peter Schreiner

Dr Peter Schreiner, working as a senior researcher at the Comenius-Institute since the early 1990s, worked on comparative Religious Education, education theory, intercultural and interreligious learning ever since. His academic backgrounds is in educational science and theology, and he holds a PhD of the Free University of Amsterdam and of the Friedrich-Alexander-University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.  Since 2015, he is the director of the Comenius-Institute.

Besides his research, he is involved in the work of many European associations. He is for example the president of the Inter-European Commission on Church and School (ICCS), a nongovernmental organisation with participatory status at the Council of Europe and organisation in partnership with the Conference of European Churches. He is furthermore moderator of the Coordinating Group for Religious Education in Europe (CoGREE), a network of six organisations active in the field of religion and education in Europe. He is also a member of academic networks such as the International Seminar on Religious Education and Values ISREV, the Religious Education Association and the European Network for Religious Education in Europe through Contextual Approaches ENRECA.
