Peter Kliemann

PROF. Dr PETER KLIEMANN, who is the coordinating and moderating person in READY, has been working in teacher education for more than 25 years. He works at the “Staatliches Seminar für Didaktik und Lehrerbildung (Gymnasien)” in Tübingen and is the head of the department “Religion – Ethics – Philosophy & Music”. This department has been implementing the idea of a school subject group (“Fächergruppe”) recommended by the “Evangelical Church of Germany” (EKD). In the ‘seminar’ there is, in the field of initial teacher training as well as in in-service learning, an intensive cooperation between courses for Protestant and Catholic religious education and courses for Ethics / Philosophy.

Peter Kliemann offers seminars and workshops in in-service education and is the author and editor of numerous didactical publications and teaching materials. He is responsible for international relations and used to be the vice chair of a research and development community on “In-Service Learning and the Development of Practice” within the Association for Teacher Education in Europe (ATEE). He has broad experience in mentoring, adapted the outcomes of a Comenius project to the situation in Tübingen and developed a teacher training programme which introduced more than 1500 colleagues to school based mentoring.
